These were a custom project for a friend of mine. Designed one night while we were in Guatemala, they're finally completed. Close to 70 hours I think, here's the scoop.

Starting with a base of canvas duck carpenter pants, they were first treated with Borax to be somewhat fire retardant. They're then split up the seams on the outside, and the whole border is seamed in black oiltan.

Then there's the utility half-chaps attached to the front panel. The left leg has a large pouch with a dial clasp, some retaining rings, a long ring strip for hanging various things, and a lace-up frog.
The right leg has two smaller pouches, D-rings, a strap with a spring clip, and shotgun shell loops currently holding glass vials.
These buckle around the thighs, and the upper portion forms the basis of the belt.
At the back is a drop-down first aid kit. With a flick of the chest hinge, the pouch unfolds and drops down, inside are 3 vials in loops, and plenty of space for sundry lineaments.
On the back right is a 4-ringed frog for carrying hatchets or other such tools.

Finally at the bottom are removable leather gaiters/greaves. They're of a slightly thicker leather, and buckle up the sides.

Lasered out? Like, printed? haha, I wish I had some! I pretty much just winged this after drawing up some designs in a sketchbook. But, if you want to leave me your email address, I can send you the drawings, as well as lots of progress pics that will give you a good idea as to how it all goes together.

Wow, extremely original, I really enjoy the glass vials in the shotgun shell loops. Where do you purchase your leather for this kind of project?

All comes from Tandy Leather Factory! Luckily there's one handy to me. That's pretty much where all my money goes.

Thanks for the response, I actually heard about them in a book about leather working that I read. Unfortunately the only ones around are like 2 hours out of the way. Maybe they offer some sort of online buying/shipping. I'll need to research a bit more. :/

But thanks so much, your work is great!

Yes, you can indeed order everything online! It's just not the easiest for sides of leather, as you don't really get to feel it out and check it before you buy. So it's super convenient having one handy to me, as I go in and rifle through racks and racks of hides. Having a wholesale membership also helps! $150 for the year, and you save a ton of money.
